Whats the best way to get clientelle if you want be a freelance makeup artist/hair stylist?

I'm beginning beauty school next week and if i can avoid the salon environment, i'd like to, but i would like to know the best way to find clients if you have no to little experience other than on family and friends. How do you get started?Whats the best way to get clientelle if you want be a freelance makeup artist/hair stylist?
If you don't need a License, Then yeah, You can charge people. Put out ads, like in News papers, or flyers...and have your family tell people about you...When you do hair in School(You will be in a Salon enviroment.), Slid the fact that you want, or plan on becoming a Freelance stylist in, when you do clients.Whats the best way to get clientelle if you want be a freelance makeup artist/hair stylist?
Do it on family and friends during a time where they go out and be your advertisement for you, so that they can refer them to you. You can also have your mom and friends refer other people to you. Craigstlist may be another way to gain some clientele. Check with your State Board of Cosmetology to make sure that what you want to do is legal in your state.
you've already put you finger on it---family and friends

offer to do their makeup, and just make sure that they tell people who did it, if they get asked
