We have this dance coming up soon and I want to look really pretty but not overdone. I want to look mysterious but also soft. I want to make sure that I look like the best one there. Pictures are greatly appreciated! What makeup and hair should I do for a formal dance?
OK! Let's see now! Probably your dress and your shoes are like this, except skin color might be darker.

The turquoise color is very very difficult to make it suit well.
The first great combination, but very risky to wear it (because you might do something wrong, and this style needs perfection) is green smokey eyes with very hard dark above the lash line. You must do this make up perfectly! Your skin must be perfectly made up so you don't look like you've been up all night studying. Your cheeks must be outstanding dark bronze and your lips natural beige, try to avoid pink lipstick. Here are some pictures for this style. Remember try to avoid pink lipstick ( don't go with turquoise ).
light version of this style: http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm318/ebeautyblog/pink_green_makeup_stila.jpg
hard version, but you can do a bit more black and a bit more turquoise color in this make up: http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm318/ebeautyblog/pink_green_makeup_stila.jpg
nice version that will suit good if you have type of Chinese eyes :) http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l210/nicnic888/green_smokey3.jpg
The hair look with this style is perfectly straight hair, with gloss :) like the left picture

BUT the best way to don't mess something up is to go with the variant : classic smokey eyes
but, you must start like:

then go to this:
http://lipsticklife.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/smoky-eye-thumb.jpg
smudge it with a bit turquoise color , but don't make this darker :

is not trendy!
If your eyes are pretty close you can try this kind of smokey eyes, we call it ';lighter in the center'; smokey eye look:

After all don't put black in your inner line of your eye, try to put white pencil or eye shadow. Look this picture it will help:

make it hard white.
THE CHEEKS make it always be outstanding hard bronze, and lips natural color with gloss.
That's all, only about your hair musr be really perfectly straight or like this:

Your earrings must be long , long , long like this:

or

MUSTN'T WEAR necklace with big, long, earrings. It's silly and not trendy!
Wear big rings and beautiful accessorize:

Don't mix gold and silver NEVER :)
Good luck :)
Hope will help
Love YaWhat makeup and hair should I do for a formal dance?
It all depends on your taste. Usually I like an up do with a few pieces of hair hanging down. Sometimes I like a the full soft curls. If you have time, I would suggest you go through a few magazines, they have plenty of hair style mags in the store, just thumb through a few. Or go online and google in sexy hair do's, formal hair do's. Or go to your stylist and ask her to try a few out on you. If your dance is at night, you want to play up your eyes with dark smokey colors and dark coated sexy lashes. Any fashion mag hast tips and pics to help you pick out a great look. I like to use a dark liner on the lash line, with a neutral color covering the lower part of my lid, then a dark color on the outer edge of the eyelid and blend together with a slightly lighter color in the crease. Make up counters at the malls can help you achieve this look as well. And as always, google in sexy make up, or how to achieve the celeb look. Good luck!!!!
curl your hair and wear it down with a cute hair bow to match your dress
and for your makeup try black eyeliner with light turquise eyeshadow and a little bit of silver glittery eyeshadow over it
Check out this website, it has tips for make-up and hair.
I used it for my senior dance and I got loads of compliments!
